Meet The Team Behind The Guides
Grant Compass SA is a small, independent group of writers and researchers. We take the tricky parts of South African grants and bursaries and turn them into plain steps you can follow on your phone. Every month, a huge number of people look up their SASSA status, a payment date or a way to pay for study. They are not after theory. They want an answer they can rely on.
First, a plain statement: Grant Compass is no arm of SASSA, NSFAS or the state. Applications never pass through us, we hold no personal files on you, and we cannot influence the fate of your grant or bursary.
Topics We Cover
Expect help on SRD status checks, payment dates, appeals, updating bank or mobile details, the big SASSA grants, and money for university and college students. A typical guide gives you the steps in order, a list of papers to gather, answers to common questions and a few simple pictures.
Wherever we can, we point you to the official channel, so you know where to go next. We also explain the odd words and abbreviations you may bump into.
What You Can Count On
Reading our guides is free. We never ask for private details, and where we are unsure of something, we tell you so. Nothing here is a paid shortcut, and we flag any scams that come to our attention.
If official rules move, we aim to refresh the page shortly afterwards. Still, treat each date, amount or rule as a claim to verify at the original government source first.
Who Pays For This Site
Running the site is paid for through adverts and affiliate links, and we label them clearly. Money from partners has no say in what we recommend. Nobody can pay us to say something kind about a grant or a bursary.
Language And Easy Reading
For now, everything is written in English, using short sentences and everyday words. That makes it easier to translate or to read out loud to a friend or family member. The pages are built to load quickly on older phones, small screens and weak signal, because many readers use mobile data.
Get In Touch
Got a question, a fix to suggest or a partnership idea? Write to us via the contact page. Personal grant cases are outside what we can advise on, but we can tell you which official office to approach.
